Good Shutter is a specialty brand focused on one thing: real-wood exterior shutters. No vinyl. No MDF. No compromise.
We stock four classic shutter styles — Traditional Board & Batten, X-Bar, Z-Bar, and Horizontal Slat — in solid Western Red Cedar, available in heights from 36″ to 84″, in a range of hand-applied finishes, sold in matched pairs and ready to mount.
What Makes a Good Shutter
- Real Western Red Cedar — naturally rot-resistant and insect-resistant. Cedar's own oils do the work exterior woods are supposed to. No chemical pressure treatment needed.
- Solid wood construction — not vinyl, not MDF, not composite. What you see is what you get.
- Pre-finished in a range of colors so they arrive ready to mount, or unfinished if you want to color-match your exact siding.
- Sold in pairs — one left, one right per window, with mounting hardware included.
Why We Only Sell Shutters
Most home decor retailers sell everything and specialize in nothing. Good Shutter goes the other direction — we sell shutters, and only shutters. That focus lets us stock the styles, sizes, and finishes that make sense for real homes, rather than compromising with a broader catalog.
Why Real Wood Still Matters
You can buy vinyl shutters at any big-box store for $30 a pair. They'll fade in the sun, warp in the heat, and eventually you'll take them down. Real cedar shutters cost more up front and hold up for decades — they age into a home, not against it. If you want the fastest, cheapest option, we're not it. If you want a shutter your home will still look right in twenty years, we probably are.
